Akemae omedetou gozaimasu! That’s Japanese for “Happy New Year”!
With a new year comes new traditions, and I’m here to announce a new addition to MangaMatsuri!
From this month on, a monthly newsletter will be posted to the main page of the forum, just like this one! It will contain things such as contest and event announcements, site update and improvement announcements, major industry news, Japanese phrases like the one above, as well as drawing, writing, and manga creation tips, just to name a few things! As the site grows, we’ll be expanding the amount of content in the newsletters, so please feel free to let us know what kind of content you’d like to see!
Contests and Events
MangaMatsuri isn’t hosting any contests this month, but here’s one worth mentioning:
MediBang and Shonen Jump team up to give every manga artist, beginner or master, the chance to be featured in Shonen Jump+! All you need is MediBang, a drawing tablet, and a story. But hurry – the deadline is March 17th!
There are no official events this month, but here’s a few threads you can check out instead:
Newsletter Suggestions
New Year Resolutions
Site Updates and Improvements
New boards will be added this month, including the Study Room – Here you can discuss and get help with various subjects, whether it’s for school, personal study, or even story studies. It will even feature a sub-board for language exchange!
Manga Tips
Since it’s the New Year, why not put together a new set of drawing goals? Start with something small as the year begins (Like “one page of anatomy practice a day”) and slowly work your way up to larger goals (Like “one complete manga page a week”)! Don’t forget to mark them in your calendar so you don’t forget to do them.
And finally, don’t forget to check out the Winter 2016 Anime list to see what releases this month!
Let’s work together to make 2016 the best year of our lives! Happy New Year~!
