A few nights ago I was reminded of how low my conversation skills are in real life. Typing or writing out sentences into stories for me is not a hard task, but what startled me was that although I could write up a story, I couldn't tell a story as well to someone.
"Tell me a story," I used to ask my parents, and they would just do it. They had time to accumulate their own stories in their lifetime as opposed to the younger me, but it never failed to impress.
Writing and telling a story are two different territories, of course. The written form and the spoken form of a story, although following the same set up of events to introduce the relevant information to the audience, seem to have different guidelines to how that info is relayed. And that's what stumped me the most. Other than feeling awkward about saying lines I would normally write.
So my question is - how do you find storytelling? Have you told a funny story before? Or was it just a recount of a mishap that happened when you went to the store? Please share.

So to start, I'm going to recount something that happened to me today. This is the type of thing I usually talk about when it comings to telling daily events.
I'll be writing it in the fashion I'd actually say it.
... I'd better stop there~

So I went to the park with some friends today and helped to look after some of the younger kids. There was a toddler in the group and since the other kids were busy playing in the playground, I decided to keep an eye on the youngest. She was near the edge of the playground, playing with the wood chips. So I went over and asked what she was doing. She turned to me and had wood chips in her hands. Then she held them out to me and said:
"Here's some food!"
So I held out my hands, and said "O-okay..." and she dumped them into my hands.
And then she was like, "Eat it! Um num num num" as if she was trying to eat them too.
So I went "Oh nom nom nom. Mmm! Thank you!"
And then I actually didn't know what to do with the wood chips in my hand (cause you know, kids could get hurt if you like, just throw away something they give you), but I couldn't really put them down, and before I could like, think of something, the kid was dumping more wood chips into my hands, while still telling me to eat them, so I did the "nom nom" thing again - even though the pile was getting higher -
So I tried to tell her something like, "Ohh thank you, that's enough, I'm full."
But then she says to me, "No you're not." - and she's still putting wood chips in my hands (ahaha...)
So I said, "Ohh, but if I'm full I can't eat anymore, yeah?"
And then she's walking away to do something else, but then she says, "No, because you are." (meanwhile I'm thinking "I don't think you got my question~")
